Frequently Asked Questions
Q - Is it true that we will not be male or female in heaven?
A - I think we will still be ourselves at least to some degree.
This is a difficult question, at first glance I would have to say no because the Bible says in
Matthew 22:30. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.
However does this really mean we won't be male or female?
What about
Galatians 3:26-28 For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus. For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ. There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus. And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
So in the eyes of God Christians are not male or female now so does this mean we will be the same in heaven as we are now?
Below is a verse that indicates in Heaven we will be known as we were known, inferring we will be known by our loved ones and friends:
1 Corinthians 13:12
For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known.
The Bible speaks of Angels many times and they are always referred to as "he" God the father is referred to by Jesus as "he" so if Angels can be male and God is male why would we not remain male or female in heaven?
We are not given much information except that Jesus said we would not marry in heaven. Anything else is pretty much speculative. I think 1 Thessalonians chapter 4 indicates we will "know" and be reunited with our loved ones when the Lord returns.
Luke 16:22-23
And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;
And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.
The Rich man saw Abraham and Lazarus in Abraham's bosom and he knew them as men, so again this is a good scripture to indicate that we will look much the same and still at least look like male or female.
So really we will just have to wait and see but it does look like we will remain male and female at least to some degree.
God bless you all.
